Mission
The mission of Cherokee County Special Olympics is to provide year-round training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in sharing of gifts, skills and friendships with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
Special Olympics Terms
- Junior- Ages 8-15
- Senior- Ages 16-21
- Masters- Ages 22+
- Traditional- All athletes particiapting
- Modified- All athletes plus ball modification
- Unified- Athletes plus partners participate
- Skills- Lowest ability level of competition
